Reading Your Bible Cover to Cover

How would you feel if you left your children a book of instructions and they never even read the whole thing? How would you feel if your children just disregarded your words and gave to honour to your commandments? You would probably feel disappointed. Well, that's exactly how God feels when he gives us a book to read for our whole life and we just leave it on the shelf or do "daily devotionals". God want's us to read his word. God wants us to memorize his word. And the reason why so many so many Christians don't know who God is, is because they are not reading their Bible. They think that God is some tooth fairy who's just going to give you whatever you want. God is not always looking to bless you when you are a lazy sluggard that wont do any work! God will reward us according to our WORKS! And the Bible is a book that God wants us to read.

Joshua 1:8 says, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."

Deuteronomy 17:18-19 says, "And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:"

Psalm 77:12 says, "I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings."

Psalm 119:11 says, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."

God wants us to read our Bibles. We need to read the parts of the Bible that our wimp Pastors wont preach on. We need to read the parts that never get mentioned. We need to read the verses that never get covered. The Bible teaches that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" in 2 Timothy 3:16.

The one year plan works well. But if you are a young man that desires the office of a Bishop, then you should try to read it at least three times a year. Lawyers study hard for man's law. How much more should we study when we're dealing with the word of God? We need a generation of Pastors who delight in the Word of God. Too many Pastors today despise God's word. If you don't like a verse then you don't like the book. We need to read the Bible to grow in the knowledge that God wants us to grow in. We need to read our Bibles cover to cover.
